Crews' attire with custom Nike Sportswear AW77 Hoodies
Episode 8 - The Finale • The WINNER will be announced (cross fingers) • Will it be the first ALL Girl crew or first non-Hip-Hop oriented crew? • Final Two will be performing a group number • All 9 crews from this season will be performing:
Top 3! Finally down to the end of the competition for the most unexpected and lacking season. Still with this episode there were a number of good things. First the challenge was very interesting and both Massive Monkees and Afroborike had some good parts but wasn't consistent with the other sections (try-hard rather than natural and not playing to their own style). With the last chance challenge Afroborike's piece was just a performance, and that's about it. Nothing to point out or recap or find memorable.
We Are Heroes! Yes, they really stepped it up this week and reminded everyone of their unique style, dedication, and passion. They had some really exciting and memorable moments esp. their crazy tutting. Their last chance performance was epic and belong to the ranks of JabbWockeeZ (the Red Pill) and Quest (orQUESTra). From the beginning I was thinking We Are Heroes can make it to the Top 2 cause they are very unique and creative with their movement and they proved it again with these two performances.
Sidebar: So hopefully all goes well with the voting since I feel the viewers were split between MM and Heroes allowing Afro to slide to the top 2.
Behind-the-scenes with the top 2 saved crews
Freestyle Session
Sorry NO recap videos, since all my sources on YouTube have been deleted. But anyways click here
Opening act God Made Me Funky great live funk band featuring a number of covers.
Oh no...sadly Keri Hilson was sick the past few days before the concert and wasn't able to perform.
Much LOVE to Keri for getting on stage to apologize. And everyone else that was boo-ing have some respect it takes a lot for an artist to come "in person" to cancel their entire act for a FREE University concert...female dogs.
To compensate she brought formal York Student Kardinal Offishall! (i didn't know)
At the end of the concert already 3/4 of the people left.
Episode 7 - Decades of Dance Challenge: • Crews are challenge to the dance styles from the 60s-2000s • Music for ALL crews Includes: 1960s "Sex Machine" by James Brown 1970s "Uprock" by Rock Steady Crew 1980s "Cold Hearted" by Paul Abdul (wth?) 1990s "You Make Me Wanna" by Usher 2000S "Love Game" by Lady GaGa • Final 2 will perform their Last Challenge routine (check video) • The saved crew this week had the weaker performance (oh well) • And 1 crew seems to Stepped It Up more than the other 2 (we'll see...)
Behind-the-Scenes for the Last Challenge tracks (You'll only see 2 performed)
No explanation...still! Quest has been and still continues to be my favorite crew. Over-coming challenges and still creating amazing performances (within the span of a few mins) is another testament to why they are the best. So Sick! You gotta get this one (to compensate with season 4 lmao).
Sidebar: While putting this together I actually forgot 1 performance! [EDIT] It's all there now.
You know the season is bad when they have to get the judges on stage (to make it exciting).
Pretty good show although a seems a little too late for them to have "good" performances (since the lack of consistency). Kind of sucks Rhythm City was cut though i understand Shane's POV since Massive Monkees did step it up and added MORE to performance which paid off and made it Very exciting. We Are Heroes once again did their thing and yes Afroborike had more to show (what?!).
C'mon TOP 3 step it up if your gonna represent Usher, James Brown, Lady (bloody) GaGa you better bring it!
Sidebar: Lil Mama get the hell off MTV your not doing any favors...Thank You
Remember 2007's performance of Chris Brown dancing on the tables
Episode 6 - The VMA Challenge: • Crews are challenge to pay tribute to the most memorable MTV Video Music Awards performances • Music & Challenge Includes: We Are Heroes: "Vogue" by Madonna Massive Monkees: "Tearin' Up My Heart" by 'NSYNC Rhythm City: "Wall to Wall" by Chris Brown Afroborike: "Slave 4 U" by Britney Spears • This episode will feature the first group routine to Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal • AGAIN a more exciting bottom 2 battle where everyone is split between the 2 • This week judges had a harder time making their Final decision • An argument arises between JC & Shane Sparks • Shane Sparks states 1 crew "outdid" the original VMA performance
World of Dance is a big dance event featuring exhibitions and competitions of dancers and dance crews. It has been hosted previously throughout California as well as New York. REALLY like this one in San Diego since it features a new routines from KMTVSIX (Kaba Modern), Poreotics, and SickStep. Check It Out!
Since the very beginning after the first four counts Beat Freaks enter the competition ready to dominate (C'mon their audition track which had to be altered was Swagga Like Us). Clearly one of the best all-girl crews ever on the show they displayed the true fundamentals of hip-hop and breaking. There's never going to be another crew that will match up to their skills and styles.
Terrible...more of the fact I felt like we just had a repeat of the Martial Arts Week. No one was being creative, exciting, or sexy (sloppy and awkward, yeah). A lot of the crews didn't step up to the challenge this week and it made them look stupid. The only crew I voted for (since i was in the States) was We Are Heroes for their energy, extremely good use of the trampoline, and creativity with the dance craze.
Sidebar: Even with all these stupid challenges if these crews can just step it up and over come these awkward challenge they could be just as good as JabbaWockeeZ or Kaba Modern who had the similar challenge first season (w/o the trampoline).
Shorty of the Beat Freaks has teamed up with My Ninja to promote the clothing line. Just love the colour, style, and photography of these images. Plain and simple.
Episode 5 - The Dance Craze Challenge: • Crews are challenged to the incorporate the latest dance crazes • Crews will also be using a big trampoline in their routine • Music & Challenge Includes (click to see what they look like): Rhythm City: "You're A Jerk" New Boys Massive Monkees: "Do The Ricky Bobby" B-Hamp Afroborike: "Swag Surfin'" Fast Life Yungstaz We Are Heroes: "Stanky Legg" GS Boys Vogue Evolution: "Halle Berry" Hurricane Chris • One crew uses the trampoline to their advantage • Shane Sparks compliments one crew for not watering down their routine
Probably one of the first dance crews i've checked out on YouTube. First heard of them from the 1st season of SYTYCD with members Ryan & Hok now part of Quest (also have a member from Poreotics). Majority members of Quest were associated with SickStep before. Like in 2005-2006 they had some of the best routines ever (like the craziest choreo for a dance crew). The crew also made it last year on America Got Talent. But still doesn't measure to what they did before.
This is should be the bar for crews. Dynamically Amazing and entertaining.
Highlight: The Lost Boys routine that got them 1st place in the Vibe Competition
Found this flier/advertisement very interesting since there are no images and only text. I have found a lot of curiosity and interest in typography and seeing this flier I'm trying to distinguish if it works.
Is it legible, readable, do people get the event in one glance or do they have to take their time? I found it very well done as the different font distinguishes the information and the fact that its all text i feel it gets the viewer to read everything.
Known to be one of the best tight and intricate crews on the show. With their isolations, tutting, and other various styles Kaba Modern continue to be a memorable crew on the show. Even after the controversial bottom 2 with the JBWKZ in season 1 (which they had to settle for 3rd place) they continue to perform with new routines, creativity, and non-stopping excitement.
Working with the basic elements of design: space/depth, form, rhythm, texture, and direction. We had to create all these layouts with only circle, triangles, and squares. And on top of that create two contrasting layouts. What you think? Is It effective?
Sidebar: Its not about the aesthetics, rather if the visual element is depicted. Gotta work on it more since it is essential in creating other designs.
