The Long Days

Two weeks into school and i am hella tired. Actually slept on the bus for the first time so pretty much shows lack of energy and sleep, but still no All–Nighters yet! There’s just a lot to do now and trying fit in the time for everything. But i really enjoyed this past week with work and a free concert!

First off Free N*E*R*D concert! Didn‘t know that was possible for York lol

Keys N Krates were one of the openers at the concert. They are some really sick performers from Toronto and they’re meant to be heard live.

Awesome to watch them for the 3rd time but it was really good that they got to perform different tracks from their past albums.

There was only about less than 200 people there so it was a pretty nice private concert.

Yeah it got that crazy…lol

There was a pretty good review of the concert on theneptunes.org

Got the new camera out on Friday and took some pics:

Really nice weather for the fall season.

The TEL building where i spend most of my time at the labs.

I love this pic it likes a miniature model

A really nice residence area

I believe this is part of the library gets confusing sometimes looking at the buildings from outside cause they look so different inside.

School on a Friday night…i know

TBC: Time-Lapse Video – Students on the GO

This was the first exercise for Time–Based Communications (due under a week) where we had to take 60 pictures (1 shot every minute) in one spot and put it all together to make this mini 30 second video. First couple of seconds is the chronological order, and the rest of the video consist on experiments changing the time and organization to focus on a certain idea.

Credits to Anda & Joohee for this group exercise. Already on to the next exercise due next week. Ah! Problem is that they don’t distribute the Final Cut Pro program so we have to work on it at school, and on top of that the technical and efficiency problems.

Sad, its not even my new camera, i just borrowed the Canon Rebel from school. Still have read the manual for my Nikon

Playing around with my New toy

Ah finally purchased my first DSLR! After debating for a couple days i got the Nikon d90. Researched and found the image quality is a lot better than the Canon Rebel. Still playing around with the camera, i should read the manual to understand what the hell im doin. Open to any helpful tips from you photographers and dslr wielders.

Nice excuse to procrastinate, well it is for school lol.

Wow im such a Nerd for posting this…

Trailer: “Buried”

Love this trailer, the design is amazing! Reminds me of Saul Bass’s work with Alfred Hitchcock, with the whole psychological and suspense feeling.

Quote: Commitment

There’s a difference between interest & commitment.
When you're interested in doing something,
you do it only when circumstances permit.
When you're committed to something,
you accept no excuses,
only results.

Half Way Through the First Week!

Did arts and crafts today in class,
what about you?

Lol its an excercise for a project i just got today, suppose to be intuitive and help us with a colour scheme and mood.

Tumblr for Time–Based Communication

This should be interesting, part of course for Time–Based Communication (Motion Graphics) includes creating a blog showing our process and work and other random things relating to the course.

Decided to use a tumblr for the course. Already have a 30 second assignment exercise due next week. I will be linking my work here as well.

Sidebar: Yeah i just picked pre-made template…its not like this for web design.

10 Lessons for Young Designers: John C Jay

1. Be authentic. The most powerful asset you have is your individuality, what makes you unique. It’s time to stop listening to others on what you should do.

2. Work harder than anyone else and you will always benefit from the effort.

3. Get off the computer and connect with real people and culture. Life is visceral.

4. Constantly improve your craft. Make things with your hands. Innovation in thinking is not enough.

5. Travel as much as you can. It is a humbling and inspiring experience to learn just how much you don’t know.

6. Being original is still king, especially in this tech-driven, group-grope world.

7. Try not to work for stupid people or you'll soon become one of them.

8. Instinct and intuition are all-powerful. Learn to trust them.

9. The Golden Rule actually works. Do good.

10. If all else fails, No. 2 is the greatest competitive advantage of any career.
