The CS4 Problem The Heavy Duty Upgrade

This meant to be posted awhile back now i got CS5 lol works perfectly thanks to the upgrade.

This year as a part of our tuition we were able to get the whole Adobe CS4 Master Collection at Sheridan (originally its about $1000+) with all the software and programs needed in the design program. I was really excited to finally have an official copy besides those other ones from previous years...the problem was that it wouldn’t download at all! It would freeze then you can hear my mac making a loud noise trying to run the damn thing. I even deleted my CS3 software before and it was just messed up.

So after finishing my 2nd year I decided to visit the Apple Store to see what i can do. I got my iMac back in 2007 so i was thinking its too old to run these new software. The solution was to upgrade my mac installing 4GB of RAM (from originally 512 MB) to run the program a lot faster.

In Process –Freak The Tee

I haven't been posting any of my recent work, but I'm gonna try especially reviewing some old school projects.

Good example how I should stop keeping things till the last minute...There was this contest setup by the fan-base of the Beat Freaks to create a new t-shirt. I had a good idea in mind but when I actually started to work on it I ended up with 5 minutes from the deadline (12:00am).

And this is what i ended up with...
Really wanna re-work on this sometime. After leaving this design for a couple weeks I find it to be a very rough design (I didn't know what colour to use at the time).

This is what my screen usually looks like when I'm working on design on Adobe Illustrator

Try finding the middle section lol. It does get a lot more messy especially when I got more time.

Next time. But anyways Click Here to see the selected designs for the Freak the Tee Contest.

Proj –for the Work, Passion, & Family

Recently worked on a project for my Tito's 50th Birthday. With personal projects esp. for family I always find it to be difficult since there's a lot more thought being put into it. For me just to design, print, and put it together there is a bit more pressure to have something that is perfect.

The concept of the card was all about my Tito, more specifically his work. My Mom had sketches of his old work and what made it a lot personal was the fact that it was sketch-designs of her actual wedding dress. So my role here was to take these drawings and it allow to become the visual and design of the card. I decided to make it a 3-sided fold out card to place the drawings like a exhibition or portfolio display. It is always the outcome/response that is the best part of designing but what I also got out of the project was the inspiration and the amazement of talent in the family. It is what's inspiring, what I aspire to, and the gifts we can share with one another.

Proj –Ad Brochure

This is one of the first projects I've worked on this summer. In one week I had to create a "Corporate Advertising Brochure" for the Kingston's Frontenacs. My goal here was to bring a lot of visual appeal to the viewer, mainly with the placement of the pictures (text as well, though secondary) to allow the companies to imagine the possibilities of advertising themselves in the arena. The challenge was to fit in all the information and pictures given to create a consistent, well organized, and visually stimulating design.

–Behind the Blog

Been working on the blog for the last 3 weeks and the background was probably the reason why it took so long. At the same time I was already working on some other projects (which I'll post later). Overall the blog design was just a chance to experiment with different concepts and visuals.

From sketches to what you see now

Planning and actually using real pictures to implement into the background

Size was important since I had to make sure the blog is properly seen on all computer screens

Glasses was suppose to emphasize the "nerdy" aspect

Intro –School

After one year in the York/Sheridan Design Program this is the outcome of all the trees, money, sleep I’ve killed. I’ll get to the actual work later on in another post.
